How is Christian Team Building Different from Corporate Team Building?

Have you heard about team building? It may be considered as a major part of a successful business. The success of the company depends on a strong corporate team as a whole.. As a Christian business owner and/or manager, you may be wondering about Christian team building. Does such a thing exist? As a matter of fact, it does. It is very similar to traditional corporate team building in many ways. However, the Christian executive must keep in mind their goal of running a Christ-led business. There are various ways to do this.

One of the most important and challenging aspects for the Christian executive is finding good team members to begin with. You want to recruit hardworking, intelligent, disciplined, moral employees who can work together toward a common goal. In your position of leadership, it is your duty to lead by example as the Bible teaches us. When you demonstrate the characteristics you want to cultivate in your employees, you help them grow and learn. By serving as a good example to your employees, you give them standards to live up to.

We must come back to choosing your team members, because this is one of the most important parts of building a team. We already talked about recruiting team members with certain characteristics. However, it is also important to gauge an individual's commitment to the company, organization and the values on which the company is based. Although skills and abilities are very important, what is even more important is a loving attitude that understands the value of charity, altruism, helping others and recognizing the worth in all of God's children. Once you find that, the rest will fall into place. It is important to diversify your team and choose members with different strengths that will complement and balance one another.

Another important part of Christian team building is, of course, prayer. Team meetings should begin and end with prayer. You may want to lead your team in prayer, or you may want to ask a different member to lead the prayer each time. Some organizations have a specified prayer time every morning to help get the day off to the right start. In today's increasingly secular corporate world, the Christian company is a rare and precious thing to be treasured and honored -- not just for the good of the company but also the glory of Jesus Christ.
