Why Offer Team Building Incentives?

Animals and humans perform even more better when they are rewarded which is a well known fact. Likewise, in the corporate setting it be better to offer team building incentives.. You may have heard the old saying that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. This is especially true in the business world. To find success in the corporate jungle, you need a strong team on your side. While you may be perfectly able to motivate your employees without incentives, you will find that adding them increases performance even more.

You might think that an employee's paycheck is incentive enough. While pay is certainly a good motivator, there are other rewards that you can use to encourage your employees even more. One example of this would be a salesperson's commission structure. Often in this type of job, the more you sell the more commission you get. Many salespeople even get to work towards luxurious vacations to exotic destinations like Hawaii. Maybe you're not in sales. You can still motivate your employees to try harder.

One way is with team building games, activities and exercises. You may have noticed that many corporate teams have their own softball teams. This is not just for fun, but also for the purposes of team strengthening. Working as a team towards a common goal in a recreational setting can teach employees to trust each other, communicate more effectively and take more initiative when it comes to assuming leadership roles. In addition to sports teams there are also retreats and workshops of all kinds that can be like a vacation that is not just fun, but educational as well.

When you offer team building incentives to your employees, you are providing the motivation and inspiration they need to succeed. Incentives can be something small, like a gift certificate awarded to the employee of the month or the employee whose performance is most improved. Incentives can be big, like a cruise or even a new car. Incentives can be for the whole team as well. This might include something like a luxury corporate retreat on a tropical island or posh ski lodge. With a little creativity you can find the perfect motivator for your corporate team.
